Happy, happy!

Since the laptop got fixed yesterday I actually got to work on projects last night. Even better, I got to use software meant for the job instead of having to ghetto it. That meant I have time for socializing today. Afsaneh and I are road tripping to Lawton and Medicine Park with Loy and Zahid. I don't have to feel guilty either. Thursday's water workshop went great and we made a ton of progress developing new strategies to address water availability during and after hazards. Friday was the shoot for my month of the 2010 Oklahoma Girls Calendar. (I'm Miss September.) It's a retro pinup style calendar and we shot in Muskogee's lovely old downtown. The Roxy had Casablanca playing. It was so perfect. Saturday I plugged away at a client's all day so, yeah, I'm guilt free. I might even eat chocolate. LOL

Too much to do before Thursday.

So, I cranked out an article tonight, got about one quarter of the way through a client's Web re-design, went holy hell on casting calls, and finally (and much belatedly) updated my MySpace page. I've needed to add pictures to the portfolio for a couple of months now (yes, months) and I finally got to do it. It's sad but true that everything for clients gets front-burnered and my own life gets back-burnered, but then I'm not paying me. LOL

There's still so much to go and I've got a tentatively scheduled shoot in Muskogee on Friday and maybe one in Tulsa. Then I belong to Norman Computers Saturday. Heck, I may be working with them tomorrow, too. I'm waiting to find out. Yikes.

I did get the laundry washed today. Woohoo! Clean undies. Now there's something to celebrate.

Writing and Web designing

Whew! What a busy few days. Not even time to blog! *smiles*

I did manage to crank out the online and mobile video news article I write weekly for JollyJo.tv. To add to my fun, the magazine picked up a feature piece I wrote on Michael Jackson's video career, Something wrong in Neverland: The rise and fall of video king Michael Jackson". If ya' want to check it out, you can read it at JollyJo.tv.

Also, I finished up the Web development project for Norman Computers (Stage One, at least). The initial design for one of our mutual clients also managed to come to fruition.

Now I can spend the weekend working on freelance writing projects and planning for upcoming shoots. I'm excited that I may have another in Tulsa this month. That means I get to see my BFA La Brennan! Last month's shoot with Brian Terry gave me a full day in Big T and that meant dinner with La and her awesome family. (They don't come any cuter than her kids!)

On the hazards front, next Thursday is the second of the OK Water Workshops where we'll continue developing water management strategies for the update of the Oklahoma Comprehensive Water Plan. I'm serving on the water availability sub-committee which addresses the issues of:
  • How we should protect the safety and reliability of water supplies in the face of shortages as a result of natural and other hazards? and
  • How do we effectively and efficiently store water?
If you'd like to learn more about the process or the plan, please visit okwaterplan.info. If you have concerns about the specific theme the sub-committee I'm on adresses, please let me know.

Time to head off. I need a little guitar time before bed.

Just keep pluggin' along. (aka adventures in modeling)

So, yesterday I had a shoot at Lake Thunderbird. The weather was gorgeous. The sunset was beautiful. The MUA was a no-show. (Thank gawd I'd packed my makeup kit.) The wife of the restaurant owner asked us not to shoot next to the business. (It seems a chick in a bikini is a really unusual thing at the lake. Huh! Who would have thunk it?) We moved to the marina and learned that it closes two hours earlier than the location we'd planned on.

So, yeah. We just turned our portfolio shoot into a mini-test and called it good. I think we got some good shots since the photog, Richard Bentley, periodically stopped to show me shots on the LCD, but I won't know for sure for awhile. I did learn that it is really tough to apply airbrush makeup to one's own body. LOL You should try to spray and blend your own back sometime. I feel like Houdini that I managed it!

In the irony column, when I drove Mr. Bentley back to original location to get his car, the restaurant owner caught up with us and said he'd like copies of the pictures. LOL

Could there be more parties?

My best friend dropped by this afternoon while I was at a consulting client's office to let me know our friends A. and Z. decided to have a dinner gathering tonight. (We never seem to call it a party, even though it is.) The daquaris are always from scratch and, oh yeah, so is the food - usually Indian or Iranian. I'm thinking I should have another daquari. Man, life has been really good lately!
